BEYONCE GETS ROSS' BLESSING FOR DREAMGIRLS ROLE

Pop star BEYONCE KNOWLES was terrified when she ran into DIANA ROSS at a recent party because she plays a character based on the music legend in the film DREAMGIRLS. Knowles plays DEENA, a member of a Motown-era girl group who becomes a breakout star - a role inspired by Ross and THE SUPREMES. The two bumped into each other at music producer CLIVE DAVIS' pre-Grammy-award party in Los Angeles in February (06). Beyonce recalls, "I had pictures of her all over my movie trailer, and there she was, right in front of me. I was terrified!" Knowles had nothing to worry about because Ross bestowed her blessing on the 25-year-old. The CRAZY IN LOVE singer adds, "She tapped me on the shoulder and told me she was happy I was doing Dreamgirls. I thought I would pass out!"
