BETH DITTO'S 'DISGUSTING' ICONS

The Gossip singer Beth Ditto claims she is never disappointed because she always seeks out the ''disgusting'' side of human nature.

Beth Ditto looks for the "disgusting in life".

Gossip singer insists she has no problems with her self image because she has gradually placed fewer and fewer expectations on other people and chooses her icons carefully.

She explained: "I think what happens to me is I don't think its my self-esteem suffers, I think that my faith in pop culture and the world gets lower and lower. But you know what I did too, I adopt really good idols, like I worship Lee Bowery, I worship Grace Jones, like Divine the drag queen.

"I look for the disgusting in life, I learned that from John Waters, it's like when you look towards the gross things its like you're always surprised, like you're always still comforted to know that actually everybody else is crazy by trying to be this one thing that just doesn't exist."

Despite her group's success, Beth admits she wouldn't be surprised if it is all taken away and the group have to start again from the beginning.

She added to Absolute Radio DJ Simon Mundie: "We'll probably go back to touring in a van and like sleeping on people's floors again,

"I have a feeling that's going to come again, but like what goes around comes around, and that's kind of exciting to think about, because now its really nice and its like, 'Oh enjoy the best while you have it', because it used to be all of us in a van, like all the time, like for 16 hours a day, there's something about that's really amazing, you get really close, really fast."
