BEST DIRECTOR AWARD GOES TO BOLLYWOOD STAR

Bollywood filmmaker VISHAL BHARDWAJ has been named Best Director at the 30th Cairo Film Festival in the Egyptian capital. Indian art-house director Bhardwaj triumphed with his second big-screen WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE adaptation OMKARA, which is based on OTHELLO. The movie is to be screened at a further six international film festivals. Bhardwaj's first Shakespearean outing was 2003's MAQBOOL, a modern-day Mumbai (Bombay)-based adaptation of MACBETH.
