BERTINELLI CELEBRATING RACE SUCCESS
Actress VALERIE BERTINELLI is celebrating after competing in her first ever road race in California on Sunday (20Jul09).
Eddie Van Halen's ex-wife, who has dropped 49 pounds (22.2 kilograms) since 2007, has been training for the 13.1 mile (21 kilometre) Napa-to-Sonoma Wine Country Half-Marathon for months.
And the star is overjoyed she managed to cross the finish line in two hours, 12 minutes and 19 seconds.
Speaking after the race, Bertinelli told People.com, "I can't believe I did it! My legs are killing me, but I think I'm so high and excited and full of pride... that I probably won't feel it for a couple days. I am in amazement. I can't believe what a body can do if you believe in it."
Bertinelli's trainer, Christopher Lane, is now keen for her to achieve another personal best by next year (10).
She adds, "My trainer thinks I'm going to do a (full) marathon before I'm 50. I have till April. I'm not committing yet! I haven't wrapped my head around it. We're negotiating."
