BENNINGTON DISTANCES LINKIN PARK FROM RAP-ROCK
LINKIN PARK frontman CHESTER BENNINGTON finds it frustrating being held up as a pioneer of rap-rock, because he dislikes the vast majority of the bands who have followed in his footsteps.
Bennington claims Linkin Park have deliberately developed their sound on new album Minutes To Midnight to distance themselves from the rap-rock genre.
He says, "I don't want to sound arrogant, but I personally don't like about 98 per cent of the bands that are lumped into the category with us. We never felt like we belonged.
"I don't think there's a lot of respectable music in that vein. The other guys would probably kill me for saying that.
"It is flattering to be part of something that people believe you helped create, but it's also frustrating to be pigeonholed."
