BENNETT WAS A SINGING WAITER

Legendary crooner TONY BENNETT started out his music career as a singing waiter in Depression-era New York City.
The singer, now 82, headed out to work at a young age to help his widowed mother support their family through the economic crisis.
And it was then he quickly discovered his love of singing.
Bennett says, "I wanted my mother to stop working during the Depression. She had to raise three children, because my father had died.
"But every time I took a job I couldn't stand it. Then I got a job as a singing waiter. I quickly decided that I may have never been famous, but I was always going to find a job singing. I loved it."
