BENNETT SPEAKS ABOUT WILCO DEPARTURE

American rocker JAY BENNETT insists he was forced to quit WILCO in 2001 because he couldn't cope with the power struggles with fellow bandmember JEFF TWEEDY. The multi-instrumentalist, who is now enjoying a solo career, feels his time with Wilco came to a natural conclusion and he's glad he left before the fighting got out of control. He says, "I needed to go and do what I'm doing now. It was a mutual decision, and I don't think I can come up with anything better than things had run their course. "He (Tweedy) needed to be the leader of a band, and I needed to be the leader of a band, and we realised that before it got super ugly."
