BEING XMAS NO.1 IS "CRAZY", ALEXANDRA SAYS

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has said that achieving a Christmas number one with her debut single Hallelujah is "absolutely crazy".

The Londoner, who beat off competition from Eoghan Quigg and band JLS to win the coveted reality show title, went straight in at the top spot last week with her cover of Leonard Cohen's classic track.

And after sales in recent days were also calculated to confirm Alexandra as the top-selling artist in the week leading up to December 25th, the 20-year-old told Digital Spy: "This is absolutely crazy, I can't believe it.

"It's been the best week of my life."

The soloist also revealed that X Factor judge Simon Cowell had promised her a holiday "to anywhere in the world" to celebrate.

However, Alexandra is keen to kick-start her recording career before taking time off.

"To be honest all I want to do is get started on the album," she continued.

"Thank you so much to everyone that has supported me and bought the single. I'm bursting with excitement right now, it's incredible."
