BEENIE MAN RELEASED ON BAIL

Reggae star BEENIE MAN has been freed on bail by a judge in his native Jamaica after appearing in court on charges of tax evasion. An arrest warrant was issued for Beenie Man - real name Anthony Moses Davis - last week (24Oct07) after he failed to attend court to answer the charges. The Dude hitmaker owes the Jamaican revenue department $415,000 (GBP207,500) and a further $246,000 (GBP123,000) in penalties. He claims he was unaware he owed the money, and blamed his business managers for the slip-up. But after turning up to his latest court hearing on Monday (29Oct07), a judge decided to release the 34-year-old on $21,100 (GBP10,550) bail. He is due back in court on 3 December (07).
