BEENIE MAN CLEARED OF TAX EVASION
A judge has cleared reggae star BEENIE MAN of tax-evasion charges in his native Jamaica.
The Grammy-winner, real name Anthony Moses Davis, was accused by Jamaican authorities of owing the government nearly $1 million (GBP580,000) in outstanding taxes.
But Judge Owen Parkin dismissed the case in a Jamaican court on Tuesday (30Sep08) because the musician was not informed of his legal rights when he was pursued by tax auditors last year (07).
Last October (07), a judge issued an arrest warrant for Davis after he failed to appear in court to face the charges.
