BEEFED-UP GIBSON GAVE LEGUIZAMO A REAL BEATING

JOHN LEGUIZAMO was left battered and bruised on the set of his new film THE TAKE after he was beaten up by beefed-up co-star TYRESE GIBSON.
The Latino actor reveals former model Gibson piled on 50 pounds (22.6 kilograms) to play a thug in the harrowing new movie - and the extra weight seemed to turn him into a psycho on set.
Leguizamo, who plays a man struggling to cope with mental rage issues following a gunshot wound to the head, admits his big fight scene with Gibson was authentic - and left him nursing a nasty injury.
He reveals, "Tyrese was really in it. He was like going for it. He gained 50 pounds and beefed up for our flick and he got real ugly for it.
"He was grabbing me by this hood on my head and smashing my head into a metal box and it almost knocked me out. He took the hood off and my head's bleeding. It was really intense.
"I got really hurt but it helps you in the scene but not the day after when you're not shooting anymore. For the moment the adrenaline is rushing through your body."
