BECKHAM NAMED TOP U.S. SPORTS STAR
British soccer ace DAVID BECKHAM has been voted America's favourite sports idol by the nation's teenagers.
Beckham - who plays for Californian team LA Galaxy - was presented with the prestigious honour at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday (03Aug08) night.
The event, which was hosted by Miley Cyrus, saw Beckham see off competition from American-born sport stars including New York Giants football star Eli Manning to land the coveted award.
