Singer John Legend thinks the world would be a better place if more people listened to music.

John Legend says it's his job to make the world beautiful.

The 30-year-old singer thinks music is the key to making people happy, and insists it has the ability to drastically improve lives.

He said: "I think everybody looks at certain things as problems. Part of the problem, I think, is that there's not enough great art out there. And you know part of an artist's job is to try and put out beauty in the world and hopefully make the world a better place. I think an artist's job is to tell the truth. In the face of insincerity and lies, we try to combat that with the truth."

John added he thinks a life without music wouldn't be worth living, and firmly believes more people should pay attention to different kinds of art.

He said: "It would be a sad world. I think art brings a lot of beauty to the world. It inspires people. I think it brings people together, makes people think. It's an important part of being a human being, I think."
