Beatles Reunite - With Widows - For Acrobatic Tribute
LATEST: Surviving BEATLES SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY and RINGO STARR reunited in Las Vegas, Nevada last night (30JUN06) for the launch of a musical dedicated to the band. Cirque du Soleil's Love - an acrobatic and dance show set to a soundtrack featuring 130 of the band's songs - was created with the help of former Beatles producer SIR GEORGE MARTIN and his son GILES, under the watchful eye of the Fab Four's Apple Corps company. YOKO ONO and OLIVIA HARRISON, the widows of late bandmembers JOHN LENNON and GEORGE HARRISON, were also in the audience at the Mirage Theatre - and MCCartney dedicated the premiere to his and Starr's missing friends. After the show, MCCartney took to the stage and said, "This is for John and George!" Starr added afterwards, "It was emotional because two of us aren't there. So it really comes home when you're watching this." And Ono said, "All this time when I was working on this show in the rehearsals, I thought 'oh, John should be here,' That's the only thing that I regret, the fact that he's not here, because he would have enjoyed it so much."
