BEATLES' LUCY DIES

The woman who inspired hit BEATLES track LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS has died after losing her battle with auto-immune disease lupus.
Lucy Vodden, the childhood pal of John Lennon's son Julian, passed away at the age of 46 after fighting the disease for years, London's St. Thomas' Hospital confirmed on Monday (28Sep09).
She was the inspiration for the legendary song, which appeared on the band's 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Julian and his mother Cynthia, Lennon's first wife, are "shocked and saddened by the loss of Lucy," according to the St. Thomas' Lupus Trust charity.
Julian reached out to Vodden earlier this year (09) after hearing she was suffering with the auto-immune disease, and revived their friendship by offering his support.
Lucy first came to the Beatle's attention when Julian brought home a painting of his classmate with diamond shapes over her eyes - sparking the song's title.
