BEASTIE BOYS' YAUCH DIAGNOSED WITH 'VERY TREATABLE' CANCER

BEASTIE BOYS member ADAM YAUCH has been diagnosed with a "very treatable" cancerous tumour in his salivary gland.
The rapper's record label EMI announced on Monday (20Jul09) the cancer was caught early and is localised in one area. Yauch - also known as MCA - is expected to make a full recovery.
The hip-hop trio has been forced to cancel their upcoming tour and postpone the release of their latest album, Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, as the 44 year old undergoes treatment - which will include a surgical procedure.
In a video statement posted on his official website, Yauch says, "I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we'll release the record and play some shows. It's a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later."
A new release date for the album, originally slated for release on 15 September (09), has yet to be announced.
