BB KING TO RECEIVE HIGHEST US HONOUR

Blues legend BB KING is to be awarded America's highest civilian honour at a ceremony hosted by US President GEORGE W BUSH later this month (DEC06). The 81-year-old musician will receive the Presidential Medal Of Freedom from Bush, who has branded King "an inspiration" to many American musicians, on 15 December at The White House in Washington DC. Bush says, "For more than half a century, the King Of The Blues and his guitar Lucille have thrilled audiences, with King help(ing to) give the blues its special place in the American musical tradition." Grammy Award-winning King says, "It's been a long journey, but I've enjoyed every minute of it, bringing the blues to so many enthusiastic audiences."
