BB KING SALUTES MONTREUX FOR THE LAST TIME

Legendary blues man BB KING shed tears when was joined onstage by a galaxy of stars last night (03JUL06), as he bid farewell to Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival. The 80-year-old singer/guitarist was accompanied by GLADYS KNIGHT, BARBARA HENDRICKS, RANDY CRAWFORD, LEELA JAMES, JOHN MCLAUGHLIN, STANLEY CLARKE, JOE SAMPLE, GEORGE DUKE and DAVID SANBORN during his two-and-a-half hour performance - part of his retirement tour. An emotional King, who has played at the Lake Geneva spectacular for over 20 years, told the audience, "Maybe I should quit every night. "I'm going to cry again. This is the icing on the cake - I could never be sent off better. "My knees and back hurt and my head ain't much good either. I can remember though that I am now 80 years old so I sit down to make it feel better."
