BAY DENIES SNUBBING CLARKSON

Moviemaker MICHAEL BAY has disputed claims he snubbed actress LANA CLARKSON at a party two days before her death, insisting he cannot remember the encounter. Clarkson, who was shot dead at producer Phil Spector's California mansion in February 2003, was reportedly devastated by the fact Transformers director Bay didn't remember her. Bay phoned in his testimony to a Los Angeles court from Japan on Monday (23Jul07) after the defence team in Spector's ongoing murder trial used claims that the filmmaker ignored the actress to bolster their case that a depressed Clarkson took her own life. He told the jury, "Wouldn't it be a big moment in one's life if you saw someone at a party, and two days later she was killed? Life's made of memories, and that would be a big memory." Club promoter Punkin Pie Laughlin previously testified that her "closest friend" Clarkson was depressed about her financial problems and faltering acting career, adding that Bay's alleged snub was a further blow. Meanwhile, prosecutors in the murder trial rested their case on Monday (23Jul07), three months after it began (Apr07).
