BAY CITY ROLLERS SUE OVER UNPAID ROYALTIES
The Bay City Rollers are suing their record company for allegedly failing to hand over millions of dollars in unpaid royalties.
In the lawsuit filed in the US district court of New York, the 1970s Scottish pop group claim that Arista Records have not paid the right amount for the past 25 years.
Royalties are said to have been withheld from album sales, film rights, merchandise, ringtones and rights to commercials.
Just one payment of $254,392 (£129,000) was made to the band in 1997.
"Arista's claim over the last 25 years that it does not know who to pay is, and always has been, a pretext intended to deprive the Rollers of the royalties to which they are entitled," the lawsuit says.
The suit, which seeks unspecified damages, was made on behalf of band members Eric Faulkner, Duncan Faure, Alan Longmuir, Derek Longmuir, Les McKeown and Stuart Wood.
Originally named The Saxons, The Bay City Rollers rose to fame with a number of hits including Bye Bye Baby and Shang-a-Lang. They split in 1981.
