BASSETT NOT CONVINCED HIT LOVE TELL-ALL WAS A GOOD IDEA
WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT star ANGELA BASSETT fought the idea of exposing her marital magic moments with actor husband COURTNEY B. VANCE in a book - because she didn't like the idea of her private life becoming public.
The couple penned Friends: A Love Story, which became an instant hit in 2007, and now she's proud she took part in the project - even though she needed some convincing it was a good idea at first.
She tells WENN, "My husband thought we should do it. I really didn't want to because I think myself as a private person, but, when I get on my way and out of my fear, I become a people person.
"But sometimes, because I'm in front of the camera, more people think they know me and develop ideas about me, so I've always been a little shy because of that.
"I eventually thought that this is an opportunity, if I could be courageous enough and bold enough, to tell the truth of my story. We all have a story that sometimes are shaped by things that are not so pleasant - family poverty and instability - and it's good to be honest about that."
Bassett and Vance were longtime friends before they wed in 1997. The couple became the parents of twins through a surrogate three years ago (Jan06).
