BARKLEY GIVEN WORK RELEASE
Basketball great CHARLES BARKLEY has been granted permission to work during his upcoming 10-day jail term for drink driving - so he'll only spend his nights behind bars.
The sporting legend was sentenced to prison time after pleading guilty to two charges of driving under the influence (DUI) on Monday (23Feb09) relating to his 31 December (08) arrest in Arizona.
He's due to begin his sentence at Lower Buckeye Jail on 21 March (09) - but TV personality Barkley will get to spend the majority of his day outside of his cell, to allow him to continue working.
However, Sheriff Joe Arpaio tells TMZ.com if Barkley fails to abide by the 8pm to 6am lockdown, his permit will immediately be revoked.
