BARDEM TO PLAY PANCHO VILLA

Spanish Oscar winner JAVIER BARDEM has been touted to play PANCHO VILLA in a big screen biopic of the Mexican revolutionary. Serbian director Emir Kusturica is busy writing a screenplay for the project, with the working title Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman with Six Fingers - based on James Carlos Blake's novel The Friends of Pancho Villa.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in Mexico in late 2009/early 2010 - and Kusturica is keen to cast Bardem in the lead role.
He tells Daily Variety, "I hope we are going to have a chance to talk with him (Bardem) soon, but his involvement is not confirmed yet."
