BARBARA MCQUEEN: 'I WANT DANIEL CRAIG TO PLAY STEVE IN FILM'

STEVE MCQUEEN's widow BARBARA wants JAMES BOND star DANIEL CRAIG to play her late husband in a biopic of the King of Cool. A film tribute to the Great Escape star has often been mooted, and only recently Daniel Craig and Eva Longoria were tipped to feature in the movie, with Longoria playing his first wife Neile Adams. Barbara, who became Steve's third wife in 1980, less than a year before his death from a lung disease, believes the British actor is the only one to play her dead husband. Speaking at her Steve MCQueen - Photographs From The Last Mile exhibition in London, she approved of the casting, adding, "I think he would be the best one to play Steve. I never saw the Bond film but I see snippets of Entertainment Tonight and all that. He's kind of got the swagger, the good looks - if I wasn't married I'd go out with him." And perfecting MCQueen's iconic swagger will be a breeze for Craig - as he has said in the past, "As a young boy, I loved the movies of Steve MCQueen."
