BANDS PERFORM FOR INDEPENDENT RADIO

Cult acts SONIC YOUTH, GRIZZLY BEAR and EL-P are the latest musicians to play concerts in support of independent radio stations in America. Sonic Youth will play their Free Yr Radio tour date in a branch of retail store Urban Outfitters in Santa Monica, California on 21 July (07) to raise funds for nearby radio station KXLU. Grizzly Bear will perform in another Urban Outfitters branch in Cleveland, Ohio on 12 July to benefit WBWC, while rapper El-P will play the chain's Avenue Of The Americas store in New York City on 14 July for WNHU. Other bands to have rocked the Free Yr Radio tour earlier this year (07) include Dinosaur Jr and The Rapture.
