BALE SUSPICIOUS OF DIRECTOR MCG'S NICKNAME

CHRISTIAN BALE had to be convinced to star in director MCG's new TERMINATOR movie - because he was so suspicious of the filmmaker's odd name.
MCG, real name Joseph MCGinty Nichol, was given the moniker from birth to differentiate him from his uncle and grandfather, who are both called Joe.
And Bale admits he had reservations about working with the Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle director on Terminator Salvation before researching his work - because he couldn't him seriously.
Explaining his concerns he says, "There's a hurdle for starters, working with somebody called MCG. And listen he's the first to admit that. He's a great man who's happy to call himself MCG because he got a hurdle right from the get-go with that. I was a real sceptic. I just felt like there was no need for any more chapters in this anthology, but he had some great ideas.
"He asked me to take a leap of faith... and I think he's managed to pull it off."
