BALDWIN SPEAKS OUT ABOUT 'SMEAR DEAL'

Actor STEPHEN BALDWIN has spoken out about reports he has lost his home, calling the story a "smear deal" against his good name.
While The Usual Suspects star filmed U.S. reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in the Costa Rican jungle recently, reports broke suggesting Baldwin's New York home was to be auctioned off after the actor defaulted on more than $824,000 (GBP549,330) in outstanding mortgage payments.
But the 43 year old's legal and financial woes have been blown out of proportion, according to his rep Brad Taylor, who insists talk about a 24 June (09) auction is incorrect. And now Baldwin has addressed the story.
Calling in to Arizona DJs Johnjay & Rich's morning show on Tuesday (23Jun09), the actor said, "When you're a celebrity and you try to renegotiate stuff... if I wanted to renegotiate my mortgage... these people just really gave me a hard way to go and it actually led to that information that was released. It was totally not the case.
"It was actually a bit of a smear deal, which was unfortunate and it's all being straightened out right now."
