BADU'S NEW ALBUM AIMED AT COFFEE-DRINKERS

ERYKAH BADU is to undertake an innovative new marketing strategy for her forthcoming live album - she is releasing the LP through branches of Starbucks coffee shops. The move comes as part of a major push by the rapper's Universal record label which has seen Badu's first studio album in five years, Nu AmErykah, split into two - with the first half released later this month (Feb08) and a live LP scheduled for autumn 2008. And the marketing campaign has already begun with songs from 4th World War - the first half of Nu AmErykah - being played before films in U.S. cinemas and artwork from the album plastered over coffee mugs in various outlets across the country. And Badu's next release, a live album titled Loretta Brown, will be made available exclusively at Starbucks. Although no further details have been revealed about the daring move, the star insists she will be taking her time planning her career. She says, "I don't always make the best decisions when it comes to timing between my records. I could be seen as a poor decision-maker when it comes to those things. But it sure feels good to me, and that's the only thing I can really go with."
