BACON WAS IRRITATED BY SIX DEGREES GAME
Actor KEVIN BACON overcame his anger towards SIX DEGREES OF KEVIN BACON after realising the trivia game based on his career could help charity.
In 1994 three U.S. university students developed the game, based on the theory that every Hollywood actor can be linked to the Footloose star through his film roles.
Bacon admits he was irritated when the phenomenon took off - until he realised he could establish a charity inspired by the game's premise.
The result was the website SixDegrees.org, a networking service that matches up donors with charities.
He explains, "I realised that it was staying in the zeitgeist, so there was actually something that could be done with it.
"I just like the notion of the connectivity of people - not to Kevin Bacon, but to each other. If you take me out of the equation, it's a very important and beautiful thing."
The internet page was launched in 2008 and has raised more than $2.6 million (£1.8 million).
