BACKSTREET BOYS OUTRAGED OVER TRL AXE
Pop group BACKSTREET BOYS have called on MTV bosses to reconsider plans to scrap popular music show Total Request Live (TRL).
The music channel's executives recently announced that TRL is facing the axe, with the final broadcast scheduled for 16 November (08).
Launched in 1998, the show featured hot new music videos, and viewers were introduced to their favourite pop stars through exclusive interviews.
The Backstreet Boys were a regular fixture on the series throughout their 1990s heyday - and the singers are devastated that new generations of pop fans will be deprived of the show.
Bandmember Nick Carter tells MTV.com, "(It is) sad. This is something that we've been a part of since the beginning. So many great memories.
"Why are you taking it off? What's wrong with you guys? Things have to change."
