BABYSHAMBLES BASSIST URGES LONDONERS TO VOTE

BABYSHAMBLES bassist DREW MCCONNELL has urged fans to go out and vote in the London assembly elections today in an effort to prevent the British National Party (BNP) from getting any seats.

Speaking to NME magazine, McConnell said that last year the BNP were 5,000 votes away from getting a seat, which accounts for 0.1 per cent of the vote.

"The polls are predicting the BNP to win two seats this year, which would be disastrous," he added.

"As I understand it each elected member is given an office, £400,000 a year funding and, most terrifyingly in the case of the BNP, legitimacy and a platform from which to spout their vile hatred right into the heart of our nation's capital."

Drew took part in the Love Music Hate Racism carnival in London's Victoria Park last weekend, performing alongside representatives from REVEREND AND THE MAKERS and an ex ARCTIC MONKEY.

He told the publication that he hoped the event had helped persuade people not to let this happen.

Meanwhile, in related news, BABYSHAMBLES recently claimed that their incarcerated bandmate PETE DOHERTY is holding up well in prison.
