B-MOVIE GIANT DIES

Acclaimed British B-movie producer MONTY BERMAN has died of natural causes. He was 94. The London-born film-maker was born NESTOR MONTAGUE BERMAN in London's East End in 1912, entering the film industry at the age of 17, when he became a camera assistant at Twickenham Film Studios. His prolific career spanned decades, and included such cinematic gems as SIR RICHARD ATTENBOROUGH-starring SEA OF SAND in 1958 and THE SIEGE OF SIDNEY STREET with collaborator ROBERT S BAKER - with whom he founded his company Tempean Films. Berman continued to work into later life, branching out into television and producing episodes of hit British TV series RANDALL AND HOPKIRK (DECEASED) in 1969.
