AUSSIE STAR PATE DEAD AT 88

Australian actor MICHAEL PATE has died at the age of 88.
The Sydney-born star relocated to Hollywood after starting his career as a broadcaster Down Under and appeared in a string of movies and TV shows, including Gunsmoke and Rawhide.
He returned to Australia in the late 1960s and became a revered TV producer.
He adapted the screenplay for 1979 film Tim, which propelled a young Mel Gibson to stardom.
