ASTLEY GIVEN A BOOST BY INTERNET 'RICKROLLING'
Forgotten British pop star RICK ASTLEY's career has been given a huge boost thanks to an internet prank. The singer's Never Gonna Give You Up pop anthem from 1987 has been adopted by online jokers, who lure music fans to sites promising exclusive videos by current artists - only to blast them with remixed versions of Astley's song, or his old video. The phenomenon has been dubbed 'Rickrolling' by YouTube.com users, who have been caught out by the pre-April Fool's Day prank. But at lease reclusive Astley can see the funny side of the joke. He tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "I think it's just one of those odd things where something gets picked up and people run with it. But that's what's brilliant about the internet."
