ASIAN BODY WANTS MILEY CYRUS APOLOGY OVER 'SLANT-EYE' SNAP
Teenage starlet Miley Cyrus has been criticised by Asian groups after a photograph emerged of her and friends appearing to make 'slant-eye' poses.
In the leaked picture, the Breakout singer, 16, along with her boyfriend and other friends can be seen pulling their eyes in a mocking fashion as they pose with an Asian friend.
A spokesman for The Organization of Chinese American (OCA) attacked the photo, saying it was both offensive to the Asian Pacific American community as well as setting a poor example for Cyrus' young fans.
"Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimised the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans," he said.
"The inclusion of an Asian Pacific American individual in the photo does not make it acceptable.
"We hope that Miley Cyrus will apologise to her fans and the APA community for this lapse in judgment and takes the opportunity to better understand why the gesture is offensive."
The Hannah Montana actress has previously landed in trouble through controversial pictures and issued an apology when she posed for semi-naked photographs for Vanity Fair last year.
