ASHLEE BLASTS EDITOR FOR 'PUBLICITY-SEEKING'
LATEST: ASHLEE SIMPSON has hit back at the US editor of Marie Claire magazine after a backlash by the publication's readers. Simpson upset readers when she enthused about accepting your body flaws only weeks before undergoing a rhinoplasty operation on her nose. In the July (06) issue of the mag, Simpson says, "Everyone is made differently, and that's what makes us beautiful and unique. I want girls to look in the mirror and feel confident." Over 1,000 readers complained to the magazine, which has recently been taken over from the editor at the time of Simpson's interview, LESLEY JANE SEYMOUR, by JOANNA COLES. Coles writes in the September (06) issue, "She was quoting chapter and verse about how crucial it is to love yourself as you are, etc. We're dazed and confused - and disappointed - by her choice too." In response, Simpson's publicist ROB SHUTER tells MTV News, "I'm sorry the new editor is using Ashlee to get publicity for her magazine."
