ASHANTI HEADING FOR OZ

R&B star ASHANTI is set to become a Broadway diva in a revival of THE WIZ.
The singer/actress will make her stage debut as Dorothy in the soulful version of L. Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz fable.
The musical will open at the New York City Center in June (09) and run for a month.
As well as winning Grammy Awards and other accolades as a singer/songwriter, Ashanti has also appeared in films like 2007's Resident Evil: Extinction and John Tucker Must Die.
It won't be her first outing as Oz heroine Dorothy - she played the character in 2005 TV movie The Muppets' Wizard of Oz.
The Wiz was also a cult 1978 film, starring Diana Ross, Richard Pryor and Michael Jackson.
