ASHAMED FATHER MADE AGHDASHLOO CHANGE HER NAME

Oscar nominee SHOHREH AGHDASHLOO was forced to adopt her husband's family name when she started acting in her native Iran, because her father was ashamed of her chosen profession. The HOUSE OF SAND + FOG star's dad was so upset when his daughter revealed she was planning on becoming an actress, he stopped talking to her. She reveals, "When I started working I used my real name, VAZIRI, and my father was so upset he didn't talk to me for two years. "I had to go to my acting workshop and ask them to change all the posters and pamphlets." The actress admits her father eventually came round to her success in 2001: "He came here (America) and saw how I was respected and how people talked to me... I realised he had become aware of his mistakes."
