ARMANI: 'BECKHAM WANTS TO BE AN ACTOR'

Italian fashion designer GIORGIO ARMANI insists soccer star DAVID BECKHAM has signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy because he wants to eventually try and establish an acting career. Beckham announced last week (11JAN07) that he and wife his former SPICE GIRL wife VICTORIA were moving to the US after he had decided not to renew his contract with Real Madrid. Armani says, "If reports (that the deal is worth $250 million (GBP128 million)) are true, then he has done the right thing. And I think he wants to be an actor, not a footballer." Armani, who has designed the England soccer team's outfits in recent years, adds, "He is a very handsome man and his football career could be nearing an end. Also, look at this wife...I saw her at TOM CRUISE's wedding and she is a very bubbly lady." Beckham has admitted he turned to actor friend Cruise for advice on whether or not to make the move to Hollywood.
