ARCTIC MONKLEYS ABANDON 'DEAD' HITS

Arctic Monkeys won't be playing many of their earlier hits at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals because they are ''done'' with the ''dead'' songs.

Arctic Monkeys won't play many of their biggest hits at the forthcoming Reading and Leeds festivals.

The Sheffield rockers- who have just released new album 'Humbug' - are set to headline the main stage at the dual-sited event this weekend but will leave fans of their older songs including 'Mardy Bum', 'Teddy Picker' and 'Fake Tales of San Francisco' disappointed after admitting they won't be singing the "dead and done" tracks at the event.

Frontman Alex Turner said: "You've got to move on."

However, the group aren't abandoning all of their old material because the frontman is still a big fan of the group's breakthrough hit 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor'.

He added to MTV2: "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor for instance... Its fun to play live, I buzz off playing that every night. That's not done."

Meanwhile, Alex's Last Shadow Puppets co-frontman Miles Kane has confirmed he is to embark on a solo career after splitting his other band The Rascals.

The Liverpudlian trio issued a statement saying: "We can confirm that The Rascals have parted ways. Miles Kane is currently writing new material and has been in the studio recording some tracks by himself. Greg Mighall and Joe Edwards are working on a film project with 'Awaydays' star Liam Boyle."
