ARCTIC MONKEYS TAKE HOME DOUBLE BRIT AWARDS
UK indie band the Arctic Monkeys were celebrating last night after walking out of the Brit awards last night as double winners.
The group won best British group and British album for their debut album Whatever People Say I am, That's What I'm Not. They beat other groups Kasabian, Muse, Razorlight and Snow Patrol for the major award.
"Our debut had a lot of recognition, but there's no doubt that this is a very special award and much appreciated by us all," said Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner accepting the award at the ceremony in London.
The Killers also took home double awards for best international group and international album.
James Morrison beat Jarvis Cocker, Lemar, Paolo Nutini and Thom Yorke for the best British male solo artist title, while Amy Winehouse was voted the British female solo artist.
Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado won the awards for international male and female solo artists, seeing off competition from stars including Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Damien Rice and Bob Dylan.
British singer Lily Allen missed out on an award despite being nominated in four categories.
Boy band Take That won best British single for Patience and British band Muse also took home an award for the best live act.
