ARCTIC MONKEYS' STRANGE SOUND

Arctic Monkeys love their forthcoming single 'Crying Lightning' but admits it is very different to typical pop songs.

Arctic Monkeys say their new single is "strange".

The rockers release 'Crying Lightning' next month and admit it is not typical chart fare.

Frontman Alex Turner said: "This was deemed the best signifier of the record. It was a favourite during recording.

"It's strange as far as a pop song goes."

The track was one of the first written for their forthcoming LP 'Humbug' and the singer says it was the most fun they have had recording an album.

He explained to BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe: "We've enjoyed making it more than the other two put together. It does really feel like we're getting somewhere."

The rockers are set to headline this year's Reading and Leeds festivals and say they are much more prepared for it than when they headlined the prestigious Glastonbury festival for the first time two years ago.

Alex added: "I think I'm a bit more ready for that sort of thing than we had been in the past. Glastonbury taught us that, I think we grew up in some way."
