ARCTIC MONKEYS SLAM LIVE EARTH
British rockers ARCTIC MONKEYS have branded AL GORE's Live Earth concerts hypocritical - because musicians are responsible for higher than average carbon emissions.
The Brianstorm hitmakers haven't been invited to play Saturday's (07Jul07) environmental awareness gigs, but insist they would refuse a slot anyway.
Drummer Matt Helders says, "It's a bit patronising for us 21-year-olds to try to start to change the world, especially when we're using enough power for 10 houses just for stage lighting.
"It would be a bit hypocritical."
Bass player Nick O'Malley adds, "And we're always jetting off on aeroplanes."
The 24-hour Live Earth concert series will begin in Sydney, Australia and continue across the world with events in Japan, China, South Africa, Germany, London and Brazil, before concluding in New York.
