ARCTIC MONKEYS 'GOING HEAVY' ON NEW ALBUM
The ARCTIC MONKEYS forthcoming album will have a rockier feel than their previous efforts, drummer Matt Helders has said.
Work on their third album is due to commence when frontman Alex Turner finished his tour with his side project THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS.
Speaking to the NME, Helders said fans can expect more songs in the vein of their previous hit Brianstorm, claiming that the band have been influenced by Californian rockers QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.
"[It's] not 'heavy metal' heavy - just more aggressive. We're all into Queens Of The Stone Age. When we got to play with them and see them live it gave us a kick up the a***," he said.
"They are an inspiration, they show you can still have top tunes and loud, heavy songs, too. It's a lot more fun playing loud music - simple as that."
Sheffield-born crooner TONY CHRISTIE is set to cover an ARCTIC MONKEYS track on his forthcoming album.
