ARCTIC MONKEYS' DESSERT DISC

Arctic Monkeys admit they were unprepared when Josh Homme offered to produce their new album at his Californian studio.

Arctic Monkeys thought Josh Homme wanted to give them "dessert".

The 'Brianstorm' rockers admit they were left confused when the Queens of the Stone Age singer invited them to his Rancho De La Luna studios in Joshua Tree, California, to work on tracks for their new album 'Humbug'.

Drummer Matt Helders said: "It was something we'd talked about, but we didn't necessarily think it would happen. We'd met Josh a couple of times from playing with them. He listened to the demos and said, let's do this, come to the desert."

Frontman Alex Turner added: "We thought we were going for a knickerbocker glory, for dessert somewhere. As if the first two albums were the starter and the main course. He's like, I'll take you for dessert. All of a sudden, there's cactii."

Although they enjoyed their surroundings, the group admit it made them act strangely.

Alex added to XFM: "Jamie Cook, our guitarist, disappeared for about a day and a half on the motorbike, then he returned in a poncho with a sort of strange pink dust on his shoulders."
