ARCHER DEDICATES GIG TO LATE MUM

HARD-FI frontman RICHARD ARCHER found it hard playing a gig at last week's (ends24Jun07) Glastonbury festival - as the event reminds him of his mother's death. The British singer was forced to pull out of a performance at the legendary festival in 2005 when his mum fell ill and later passed away, but Archer insists it was cathartic dedicating this year's set to his late relative. He says, "It felt like unfinished business going back. It was quite daunting. "Last time my mum had gone in for a kidney transplant. We thought her life would be transformed. But I got a call to say there had been complications. She died not long after. It's heartbreaking that she never got a chance to see what I have achieved. I dedicated the gig to her and the next album will be for her too."
