ARCADE FIRE SLAM 'HORRIFYING' GRAMMYS
Canadian rockers ARCADE FIRE are pleased they don't have to attend this year's (09) Grammy Awards - because they find the prizegiving a "horrifying experience".
The band was nominated at the ceremony in 2006 and 2008 but missed out on the 2009 shortlist.
And frontman Win Butler is relieved, insisting he hates the Los Angeles-based event because the catering facilities do not live up to his standards.
Butler claims the all-day ceremony leaves the bandmembers tired and hungry - so they would rather not go.
He says, "We went to the Grammys and it was so s**t. You go to this venue, like a conference centre, at about 10 in the morning, and it's totally dry - no food, water, alcohol.
"Then, it's two in the afternoon and we haven't eaten. No one's eaten all day, and there are people in tuxedos offering $70 (£50) for a hotdog. It's a total crush of humanity trying to get hotdogs. It was a horrifying experience."
