APOCALYPTO BREAKS FOREIGN LANGUAGE RECORDS
New MEL GIBSON movie APOCALYPTO has smashed British box office records by taking the highest ever opening weekend ticket sales for a foreign language film.
The bloodthirsty feature, spoken in Mayan dialect, took GBP1,360,110 ($2,652,215) from 385 sites around the UK last weekend (05-07JAN07).
Previous record holders were HERO with GBP1,050,000 ($2,047,500), CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON (GBP686,000/GBP1,337,700) and AMELIE (GBP559,000/$109,005).
