APATOW SNUBBED BY MARTIN
Director JUDD APATOW was snubbed by his childhood idol STEVE MARTIN after asking for his autograph.
The Knocked Up moviemaker visited the funnyman's Los Angeles home as a kid and requested his signature, but was devastated when Martin insisted he didn't give out autographs at his home because fans would never leave him alone.
Apatow tells the New York Post, "It was an incredibly reasonable request, but to me he was just a d**k."
But the quick-thinking director left a note in Martin's mailbox saying it was fans like him who bought Martin's works and made him a star - compelling the comic to apologise.
Apatow explains, "Three months later. I got a copy of his book 'Cruel Shoes,' in the mail inscribed, 'To Judd. I'm sorry. I didn't realize I was speaking to the Judd Apatow.' "
