Annette Funicello is reportedly in a stable condition after suffering smoke inhalation when a fire broke out at her Los Angeles home.
Annette Funicello, the former Disney 'Mouseketeer', is recovering in hospital after a blaze tore through her home in Encino, California, reports OnTheRedCarpet.comThe fire was put out in less than half an hour, but Funicello was at home with her husband at the time and suffered the effects of smoke inhalation. The 68-year-old, who has multiple sclerosis, is best known for her performances on 'The Mickey Mouse Club' in the 1950's but she also starred in a number of high-profile movies such as 'Babes in Toyland' and 'How to Stuff a Wild Bikini'. Funicello, her husband and her nurse were all taken to a nearby hospital after being rescued from the blaze. Officers do not currently know the cause of the fire, but investigations are thought to be underway.
Annette Funicello's 'Mouseketeer' character has since been played by a number of notable celebrities, most recently by Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Keri Russell.
